Welcome to OakCreekNOW.com

This Web site combines the efforts of Community Newspapers and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel newsrooms to bring you the latest news and information about Oak Creek. But mostly, we want this Web site to be about you - the people who live in the community. We want it to become a gathering place online for you and your neighbors.

Right now, this is a "Beta" Web site, which means we're still developing it, seeing what works and what doesn't, getting out into the community to find out what you'd like it to be.

Even in "Beta," though, we still have plenty to offer you. Here's what:

NEWS

"CommunityWatch" is an extension of JSOnline's NewsWatch. In it, we'll bring you a quick take on the latest news and information just about Oak Creek - from what's happening in government and the schools, to new businesses and developments coming to town, to the daily buzz of such things as traffic, crime, and big news about your neighbors.

We want "CommunityWatch" to be really current, so if you know of some news in Oak Creek, please let us know.

In addition, we'll provide an archive of news, sports and feature stories about Oak Creek that have appeared in the Community Newspapers and the Journal Sentinel. And we'll post weekly police blotters and home sale prices.

THE BASICS

Check out the Community Guide for the staples of information about Oak Creek. You'll find names and phone numbers of elected officials, lots of school information, population and demographic trends, links to area organizations and businesses, restaurant reviews, and much more.

Frankly, there's so much information out there about Oak Creek that we surely don't have it all. So, again, let us know if you have any ideas.

YOUR STORIES

Do you have some news that you'd like to share with the rest of the community? Did your youngster just make the honor roll? Did your local organization name its new officers? Your Stories is your spot to tell your neighbors, in your own words, about what's going on with your family, business, school or organization.

YOUR PHOTOS

Right now, go ahead and post your photos - the ones that show us and everyone else who you are and what you care about. As long as they don't cross the line - and you'll probably know if they do - we'll post them.

COMMUNITY VOICES

If you want to do a bit more than post your news on OakCreekNOW.com, then you might want to start your own "Community Voices" blog. If you've got something to say about local government, area schools or just everday life, this is your chance. Starting a blog is easy..and NOW editor Mark Maley will be glad to help you out.

CALENDARS

Pancake breakfasts, fundraisers, art exhibits, charity walks and runs, candidate forums - this is the place to find out what events are happening in Oak Creek. Soon, we'll open it up to allow you to post your group's calendar events.

BUSINESS LISTINGS AND CLASSIFIEDS

Looking for a new job? Need a new car? Checking out new homes? OakCreekNOW.com enables you to search the Journal Sentinel's classfied's section on line. There's also MilwaukeeMarketplace.com, where you can find local products, business listings, area mall information, special offer coupons and more. And we have an online Yellow Pages as well.
