Young Dance Academy attends Dance Excellence
DANCE EXCELLENCE! A DANCER’S DREAM
Celebrating 19 Seasons, DANCE EXCELLENCE has become a global event.
Dance schools from throughout the United States, Canada, Australia, England, Japan, Philippines, Scotland, Portugal, Norway, Ireland, Russia, Belgium, Germany, Gibraltar, Hong Kong, Ireland, India, Japan, Luxembourg, New Zealand, the Philippines, Portugal, Scotland and Thailand have been selected to represent their area in classes, performance, and adjudication. The invitation to represent Wisconsin has been extended to and accepted by Ms. Sandy Young and her studio, Young Dance Academy located in Oak Creek.
Young Dance Academy is a community dance studio and has been in business for over 25 years. The studio was first invited to Dance Excellence in 2000. This will be their 6th year attending this global event. Young Dance Academy is sending 14 dancers to Dance Excellence. “Wish us luck as we embark on this week of festivities!” – Sandy Young
Quoted as “a wonderful, exhilarating week of sharing the magic of the performing arts,” DANCE EXCELLENCE is an international week long festival of technical workshops, exposure to various areas of entertainment in the Industry’s capital - Los Angeles - and great fun! Held in L.A. the week of March 28 – April 3, 2010, DANCE EXCELLENCE is geared to enhance and challenge each student to reach new heights of dance technique, professionalism and all around performance excellence.
Beginning with a series of workshops including tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop, lyrical, modern, musical theater, as well as other facets of the performing industry - vocal technique, professional management and auditioning skills, the students are inspired to “celebrate” and express themselves through the beauty of the performing arts. Past Master Class Teachers include Suzy Miller, recipient of 10 of the industry’s most prestigious awards including 5 Emmy’s; Kirk Peterson, Ballet Master with American Ballet Theater; Mark Walberg, nationally recognized television celebrity; Bill & Robyn Brawley, directors of the world renowned song & dance company, The Young Americans; Doug Caldwell, world class master teacher and choreographer; Marc Cherry, creator and producer of television’s Desperate Housewives; Cody Green, Television and Broadway Performer; and Dana White, Disney Casting Director.
Participants will give performances as well as attend a variety of shows throughout theweek. The students from Young Dance Academy have also been invited to perform onstage at Disney’s Hollywood Backlot Stage. The seven day event closes with International Performance Boards, an opportunity for the performers to “strut their stuff” onstage at the fabulous Terrace Theater at the Long Beach Performing Arts Center.
DANCE EXCELLENCE is produced by Annie McQuitty Productions, Inc. and was founded in 1989 by Annie McQuitty. Ms. McQuitty created this event to bring dancers and dance educators together from around the world to exchange their ideas and love of dance - on and off stage. The goal of DANCE EXCELLENCE continues to be to inspire dancers and teachers to fulfill their artistic dreams and desires through education and performance.
