The Distinguished Young Woman of Oak Creek 2013 will be selected on Friday, May 4th at 7:30 p.m. in the cafetorium of Oak Creek West Middle School, 8401 S. 13th Street. Many people in the community might remember this scholarship program for high school girls by its former name – Junior Miss.
The participants will be evaluated in five categories: interview, worth 25% of the total score, scholastics worth 20%, talent 25%, and fitness and self-expression, each worth 15%.

One of these young women will succeed Gina Miliacca, the Distinguished Young Woman of Oak Creek 2012. Gina is a senior at Martin Luther High School and will use her scholarship money to attend Indiana University in fall.
The Distinguished Young Woman of Oak Creek 2013 will receive the opportunity for many scholarships, including a $400 cash scholarship to the school of her choice. Other prizes will be awarded. She will then go on to participate in Distinguished Young Women of Wisconsin in Franklin in August.
Tickets are $5.00 in advance and $8.00 at the door. Tickets can be purchased from any of the participants or by calling program coordinator, Lisa Lesjak, at (414) 254-2464.
On the national level, Distinguished Young Women, formerly America’s Junior Miss Scholarship Program, is sponsored by the City of Mobile, Mobile County, Eastern Shore Toyota, Encore Rehabilitation, SPANX, Mobile Gas-A Sempra Company, Regions Bank, Alabama Power Foundation, and Master Boat Builders.
