Police Report: July 24

July 24, 2012


1Copper plumbing, a dishwasher and an oven hood were reportedly stolen from a foreclosed home in the 6500 block of South 20th Street between April and June. Loss is estimated at $500. About $3,000 worth of damage was done to the home.

2A 22-year-old Oak Creek man was arrested for burglary, obstruction, possession of stolen property and a probation/parole violation after he took $500 worth of items from a garage in the 1200 block of East Randy Road between 11:30 p.m. July 18 and 4:30 a.m. July 19. He also was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a firearm by a felon after police searched his home and vehicle.

3A $200 entertainment center, an $80 marble nightstand and a box of papers and personal records were stolen from a locked garage unit at Timber Ridge Apartments, 1775 W. Timber Ridge, between July 21 and July 23.

4An Xbox Elite videogame system, six Xbox games, 25 stainless steel plates, $35 in change and two Xbox controllers were stolen from a home in the 8000 block of South Wildwood Drive between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. July 23.


5A nylon briefcase containing two work IDs, a fob and prescription bifocal glasses was stolen from a locked car at Cardinal Fitness, 8601 S. Howell Ave., between 4:30 and 6 p.m. July 16. Loss is estimated at $400. A door lock was popped out to gain access. Damage is estimated at $350.

6A cloth bag containing dress shoes, papers and a cellphone charger was stolen from a locked vehicle at Young Dance Academy, 181 W. Marquette Ave., between 5 and 5:30 p.m. July 16. The rear passenger-side window was pried open to gain access. Loss and damage total $410.

7Two unlocked vehicles were rummaged through in the 10900 block of South Richard Road between 4:30 p.m. July 18 and 4:30 a.m. July 19. Nothing was reported stolen.

8Four unlocked vehicles in the Shepard Hills subdivision were rummaged through the night of July 18. The vehicles were parked in the 9700 block of South Veronica Drive, the 600 block of East Arthur Drive, the 600 block of East Shepard Hills Drive and the 9700 block of South Bluegrass Place. Nothing was reported stolen.

9A $100 radar detector was stolen from a vehicle in the 1400 block of East Randy Road between 7:30 p.m. July 18 and 5:30 a.m. July 19.

10An unlocked vehicle was rummaged through in the 10900 block of South Nicholson Road between 8 p.m. July 18 and 5:30 p.m. July 19. Nothing was reported stolen.

11A GPS unit and cellphone charger were stolen from the center console of an unlocked car in the 1300 block of East Randy Road between 10 p.m. July 18 and 4 a.m. July 19. Loss is estimated at $130.

12A 40-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for shoplifting on July 21 after she was seen loading an entire cart of unpaid merchandise into her car at Kohl's, 9035 S. Howell Ave., shortly after 10:30 a.m. July 20.

13A 20-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested after he shoplifted a package of KY Jelly and Axe hair gel at Pick 'n Save, 6462 S. 27th St., at 6:25 p.m. July 21.

14A 39-year-old Oak Creek woman was cited for theft for breaking into a locked electrical box and stealing electricity for her trailer at Oak Creek Estates, 2137 W. College Ave., at 7:50 a.m. July 23.


15A 25-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for possession of narcotics after police found alprazolam tablets - a prescription medication used to treat anxiety - in his front pocket during a warrant arrest in the 7600 block of South 27th Street at 4:30 a.m. July 19.


16A 26-year-old Cudahy man was arrested for drunken driving and driving with a suspended license at Bender Park, 4503 E. Ryan Road, at 7:50 p.m. July 22. His blood-alcohol content was 0.12. A passenger in his vehicle, a 23-year-old Cudahy man, was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.


17A 60-year-old Franklin woman was taken to Wheaton Franciscan for treatment of knee and neck pain after her car was rear-ended by a car on the southbound Interstate-94 off-ramp at Rawson Avenue at 5:40 p.m. July 16. The driver of the striking car, a 43-year-old Franklin man, was cited for following too closely.

18A 56-year-old New Berlin woman was taken to Froedtert Hospital for treatment of head and arm pain after her vehicle struck another, hit a guard rail and flipped over in a median in the 7400 block of South 10th Street at 2:30 p.m. July 22. The woman was attempting to pass a vehicle prior to the road going from two lanes down to one lane. The driver of the other vehicle was uninjured.

19A 27-year-old Oak Creek man was cited for reckless driving after his vehicle went off the road, struck a fire hydrant and traveled several feet on the sidewalk before striking an electrical pole in the 400 block of East Highway 100 at 11:50 a.m. July 23. The man said the accident was caused by road rage he felt after another driver cut him off. The driver of the other vehicle said the man's vehicle came up behind hers at a high rate of speed and went off the roadway. No one was injured.

20A 22-year-old Franklin man was taken to Wheaton Franciscan for treatment of a swollen right hand after a minivan intentionally accelerated and struck him in the parking lot at Menards, 6800 S. 27th St., at 2:30 p.m. July 24. The van fled after striking the man. The driver and front passenger, who allegedly yelled at the victim and laughed throughout the incident, are described as white males, ages 17 to 19, with short brown hair. There also were two or three passengers in the back seat. Police are investigating.


21An exterior door at Shepard Hills Elementary School, 9701 S. Shepard Hills Drive, was damaged when chunks of asphalt were thrown at the building between 2:30 p.m. July 18 and 5:55 a.m. July 19.

22A mailbox was knocked out of the ground and a garbage can was knocked over in the 9700 block of South Chicago Road between 8:30 and 9 p.m. July 22.

23A mailbox was damaged when it was pulled off its base in the 3700 block of East Garden Place between 9 and 10 p.m. July 22. Damage is estimated at $50.


24Three counterfeit $20 bills were passed at Game Stop, 8171 S. Howell Ave., between 11 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. July 16.

25A 21-year-old Missouri man was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop in the 10100 block of South Chicago Road at 1 a.m. July 19.

26A 17-year-old Mukwonago boy was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia in the 8800 block of South Howell Avenue at 7:35 p.m. July 20.

27A 54-year-old Oak Creek man was cited for shooting off fireworks in the 8600 block of South Stone Creek Drive shortly after 9 p.m. July 21.

Oak Creek police responded to three domestic violence calls and assisted with 14 fire calls between July 16 and July 23.
