Police Report: Jan. 15

THEFT

1A $200 GPS unit and two DVD headphones were stolen from a car in the 9700 block of South Deerpath Drive during the early morning hours of Jan. 6. A neighbor saw two men drive away in a four-door vehicle after the car alarm sounded. Police have the license plate number of the suspect vehicle and are following up.

2A 44-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman, both of Milwaukee, were arrested for shoplifting after they were seen concealing merchandise in their clothes and the woman's purse at Menard's, 6800 S. 27th St., at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 8. The couple told officers they steal because they have no money.

3Two credit cards were stolen out of a locked vehicle parked at Value Cinema, 6912 S. 27th St., and the cards were used to purchase food at Wendy's and gas at Speedway on South 13th Street on Jan. 9. A window was broken to gain entry to the vehicle. Police are following up.

4A 16-year-old Oak Creek girl was arrested for shoplifting $58 worth of earrings at Kohl's, 9035 S. Howell Ave., about 5 p.m. Jan. 10.

5About $2,000 worth of DeWalt and Hilti power tools were stolen from a locked work van parked at Comfort Suites, 6362 S. 13th St., between 11:30 p.m. Jan. 10 and 6 a.m. Jan. 11. The locks on the front and passenger-side doors were punched out to gain access.

6An employee called police after two people shoplifted two grocery baskets filled with steaks at Woodman's, 8131 S. Howell Ave., at 1:12 a.m. Jan. 12. When the manager attempted to stop the two people, described as a 6-foot-2, 220-pound black man in his 40s and a 5-foot-3, 140-pound black woman with dark braided hair and copper highlights, they pushed her down and fled in a dark-colored convertible that was waiting for them in the lot. Police have the license plate number of the car and are reviewing video surveillance footage.

7A wallet containing a driver's license, cash, insurance cards, a debit and credit card and a gift card was stolen out of a woman's purse while she was attending a party at a home in the 10000 block of South Windsor Drive after 4 p.m. Jan. 12. Police are following up with possible suspects.

DRUG POSSESSION

8A 27-year-old Wauwatosa man was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia after police found a glass pipe with charred marijuana residue in his car during a consent search in the 10200 block of South Howell Avenue about 2 a.m. Jan. 10.

9A 17-year-old Oak Creek boy was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia after the car he was riding in was pulled over for traffic violations in the 1000 block of West Drexel Avenue at 4:30 p.m. Jan. 11.

10A 20-year-old Oak Creek woman was cited for possession of marijuana and a 20-year-old Oak Creek man was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and underage possession of alcohol after a resident called police to report the smell of marijuana coming from an apartment in the 2100 block of West Meyer Lane at 1:40 a.m. Jan. 12.

11A 24-year-old Cudahy man was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia in the 500 block of East Rawson Avenue at 2 a.m. Jan. 13. Officers found a pipe in his jacket pocket after the car he was riding in struck a pole in the median in the 500 block of East Rawson Avenue about 2 a.m. Jan. 13.

12A 22-year-old Oak Creek man was arrested for possession of a Schedule II narcotic and possession of drug paraphernalia after officers found 10 methodone pills, a used syringe and a burned spoon in his right, front pocket during a warrant arrest in the 300 block of East Robert Court at 8 p.m. Jan. 13.

DRUNKEN DRIVING

13A 20-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for violating the absolute sobriety law and cited for speeding in the 1200 block of West Drexel Avenue at 2:40 a.m. Jan. 9. His blood-alcohol content was 0.04.

14A 26-year-old Oak Creek woman was arrested for drunken driving in the 500 block of West Drexel Avenue at 2:35 a.m. Jan. 10. Her BAC was 0.18.

15A 20-year-old Oak Creek woman was arrested for drunken driving and received a written warning for speeding in the 1500 block of East Drexel Avenue at 3:30 a.m. Jan. 10. Her BAC was 0.17.

16A 53-year-old Illinois man was arrested for drunken driving and cited for failure to yield the right of way after he was involved in a car accident at the intersection of Rawson Avenue and Sixth Street at 4:27 p.m. Jan. 11. The driver refused sobriety testing and his car was towed from the scene.

ACCIDENTS

17A 21-year-old West Allis man was cited for violating a traffic light and driving with suspended registration, fourth offense, after he ran a red light at 13th Street and College Avenue and caused a three-vehicle accident at 5:35 a.m. Jan. 10. Two of the vehicles were towed from the scene due to major damage, but no injuries were reported.

VANDALISM

18The passenger-side of a vehicle was intentionally scratched while it was parked in the 8700 block of South Oak Park Drive between 6:45 p.m. Jan. 7 and 7:10 a.m. Jan. 8. Damage is estimated at $500.

19The rear window of a car was smashed while it was parked in the lot at Oak Creek High School, 340 E. Puetz Road, between 7:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Jan. 11. Damage is estimated at $250.

20Tires were slashed on two trucks parked in front of the office at the Apartment Homes of Wildwood, 7926 S. Wildwood Drive, between 5 p.m. Jan. 11 and 6:50 a.m. Jan. 12. Damage is estimated at $408.

21An 18-year-old Oak Creek man was cited for vandalism and for driving a vehicle in a park after he was seen driving his truck on the grass in the lower parking lot, leaving large ruts in the grass at Bender Park, 4503 E. Ryan Road, at 8:45 p.m. Jan. 11. The man stated he had no reason for the vandalism other than to release stress, and he was warned not to return to the park unless he can control himself.

OTHER

22A resident of the 400 block of East Pheasant Run called police at 9 a.m. Jan. 10 to report that someone entered her house last week and stole her driver's license out of her purse. The resident also told police she believes someone is using a laser or magnetism to gain access to her house and has used it to enter her home and replace some of the shirts in her closet with different sizes. Officers advised her how to get a new driver's license.

23A 15-year-old Oak Creek girl was cited for unlawful use of a telephone after she called a resident of the 900 block of West Potomac Drive and threatened to have someone "shoot up" their house about 6:15 p.m. Jan. 10. A 15-year-old Oak Creek boy was cited for obstructing an officer for giving police a false name during the investigation.

24A 25-year-old Readstown man was arrested for disorderly conduct after he began banging on another driver's truck, then swore at and refused to obey the responding officer at Pilot Travel Center, 2031 W. Ryan Road, at 12:15 a.m. Jan. 13. The officer had to use a stun-gun on the man, and he was cited after being medically cleared at Wheaton Franciscan Hospital.

Oak Creek police responded to one domestic violence call and assisted with 25 rescue calls and one fire call between Jan. 8 and Jan. 13.
