One man was taken to the Wheaton Franciscan Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation and neck pain after a house fire in the 200 block of East Forest Hill Avenue on Oct. 13.

According to the Oak Creek police report:

The Fire Department and police responded to the home when a passerby called 911 to report flames coming out of the roof of the house at 6:24 a.m. Oct. 13.

The Franklin and Greenfield fire departments also assisted in extinguishing the fire, which caused major damage to the home. A damage estimate was unavailable at the time of the report.

The resident told police he had multiple electrical cords in the house, and that he woke up "to the sound of the electricity coming on" before realizing his attic was on fire. He stated he had run outside, gotten a garden hose and gone back into the residence to try to put out the fire but was overcome by the smoke.
