School Board considers capital improvements

Roof replacement at West Middle School, new windows at Shepard Hills Elementary and new stadium lighting at Oak Creek High School are among the priciest 2009-10 capital improvement projects under consideration by the school district.

The Oak Creek-Franklin School Board last week reviewed a list of 18 recommended projects to be completed this year, totaling an estimated $1.2 million.

The board will solicit proposals and bids on the projects, but will not formally approve any projects until it has more information on final costs and the budget.

Vote count corrected for 5th District primary

Due to a cell phone glitch, the vote tally for Patrick S. Murphy, candidate for 5th District alderman, was incorrectly reported by the Oak Creek city clerk's office.

Murphy received 215 votes, not 15, in the Feb. 17 primary election.

The difference in votes did not change the outcome, in which Dawn F. Leys and Kenneth A. Gehl advanced.
