Oak Creek Police Report: Sept. 4, 2014 issue

Sept. 2, 2014

Theft

1 A $150 Sony digital camera and a $700 Dell laptop computer were stolen from a vehicle in the 800 block of East Scenic Road between 7 p.m. Aug. 25 and 8:50 a.m. Aug. 26.

2 A man was arrested for shoplifting three spools of welding wire, valued at about $100 each, at Menards, 6800 S. 27th St., on Aug. 26. The man fled and was arrested for shoplifting at the Menards in West Milwaukee.

3 A $100 iPod, a $25 adapter and $25 cash were stolen from a vehicle in the 9500 block of South Wintergreen Drive between 4:30 p.m. Aug. 25 and 6:30 a.m. Aug. 26.

4 Two unidentified males shoplifted 14 copper fittings, valued at $225, at Menards, 6800 S. 27th St., at about 11:15 a.m. Aug. 27.

5 About eight pieces of 10-foot-long metal roof flashing, valued at $200, were stolen from a construction site at St. Mary & Antonious Coptic Orthodox Church, 1521 W. Drexel Ave., between 3:45 p.m. Aug. 27 and 8:25 a.m. Aug. 28.

6 An iPhone 5S, valued at $660, was stolen from a sports bag at Oak Leaf Park, 401 W. Centennial Drive, between 2 and 3 p.m. Aug. 28.

7 An unidentified woman shoplifted a cart filled with $300 worth of Red Bull and chips at Woodman's, 8131 S. Howell Ave., at about 9:25 p.m. Aug. 28.

8 A 24-inch Honda self-propelled lawn mower, valued at $100, was stolen from an open garage in the 300 block of East Parkway Estates Drive between midnight and 5 a.m. Aug. 30.

Assault

9 Two unidentified men physically assaulted a male employee in the parking lot at Campione Enterprises, 2201 W. Southbranch Blvd., at about 10:20 p.m. Aug. 28. The victim stated he was parking his car just before work when a female coworker said to the suspects, "That's him," and the two men began to punch the victim in the arms and legs. The victim had minor cuts to the back of his arms and refused medical attention. The suspects fled in a white Mitsubishi Eclipse before police arrived.

Drug possession

10 A woman was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at the Red Roof Inn, 6360 S. 13th St., at about 8:50 a.m. Aug. 26.

11 Officers responding to a report of a man selling possibly stolen barrels to Gary's Beer & Liquor, 9555 S. Howell Ave., arrested the man for possession of Schedule 2 narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia and obstructing police at about 6 p.m. Aug. 27.

12 A woman was arrested for possession of marijuana after a police dog located four grams of THC in a plastic container inside her room at LaQuinta, 7141 S. 13th St., at about 8:45 p.m. Aug. 27.

13 A man and two women were arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after a police dog located multiple pipes, marijuana wax and a total of about 5 grams of THC in their room during at Days Inn, 1201 W. College Ave., at about 12:45 a.m. Aug. 30.

14 A man was arrested for possession of marijuana following a traffic stop in the 100 block of West Ryan Road at about 6:45 a.m. Aug. 30.

15 A man was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in his room at Value Inn, 8060 S. 27th St., at about midnight Aug. 31. He was was taken into custody for having a valid warrant with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department for burglary and theft.

16 A man was arrested for possession of marijuana after a police dog located a total of 15.5 grams of marijuana inside the passenger side door panel of his vehicle following a traffic stop in the 400 block of West Rawson Avenue at about 3 a.m. Aug. 31.

17 An unidentified man and three unidentified women shoplifted two shopping carts full of items at Woodman's, 8131 S. Howell Ave., at about 6:55 p.m. Aug. 31.

18 A man was arrested for possession of methamphetamines, marijuana and drug paraphernalia after a police dog located a total of 2.2 grams of crystal meth, 8.5 grams of marijuana, two pipes and rolling papers in his room at Days Inn, 1201 W. College Ave., at about 12:45 a.m. Sept. 2.

Drunken driving

19 A man was arrested for drunken driving and was cited for driving without a valid license after a motorist called police to report an erratic driver on South Chicago Road and East Highway 100 at about 9:45 p.m. Aug. 29. A breath test indicated a preliminary blood alcohol content of 0.08.

20 A man was arrested for drunken driving (fourth offense) in the 8600 block of South Howell Avenue at about 2:30 a.m. Aug. 30. He refused all sobriety testing and was taken to the hospital for a blood draw.

21 A man was arrested for an absolute sobriety violation after he was pulled over for a defective muffler in the 1300 block of West Drexel Avenue at about 4:05 a.m. Aug. 31. The driver, who was not yet 21 years old, passed field sobriety tests, but a breath test indicated a preliminary BAC of 0.05.

Accidents

22 Police and the Oak Creek Fire Department responded to a report that a man fell down a sewer in the 500 block of West Ryan Road at about 8:35 a.m. Aug. 26. The victim fell 60 to 80 feet down a deep sewer, feet first, and was able to climb out on his own. The victim had severe facial injuries and a possible leg/ankle injury, and was transported to Froedtert Hospital.

23 A man was transported to Froedtert Hospital with multiple injuries after his motorcycle was struck head-on by a vehicle driving in the wrong lane of travel in the 800 block of West Drexel Avenue at about 8:40 p.m. Aug. 28. The driver of the vehicle, who was cited for driving the wrong way on a divided highway, told police he got confused in the construction zone.

Vandalism

24 An employee entrance door at Applied Plastics, 7320 S. 6th St., was damaged by a vehicle that backed into it, causing $4,000 worth of damage, between 11 p.m. Aug. 25 and 1 a.m. Aug. 26.

25 A car was scratched in the 100 block of West Puetz Road between Aug. 22 and Aug. 26. Damage to the vehicle is estimated at $300.

26 Four mailboxes were damaged with a blunt object in the 7100 through 7300 blocks of South Clement Avenue during the early morning hours of Sept. 1.

27 A door handle was ripped off a vehicle in a private underground parking lot in the 8600 block of South Ventana Drive between 8:30 p.m. Aug. 31 and 9 a.m. Sept. 1.

Fire

28 Police and firefighters responded to a kitchen fire at a residence in the 1400 block of East Buckwood Court at about 9:40 p.m. Aug. 30. The fire started when an oven mitt left inside the oven broiler ignited. The fire was contained to the oven and there was minimal smoke damage.

Other

29 A man and a woman were cited for disorderly conduct after an employee at Air Products & Chemicals, 701 W. Oakwood Road, reported a couple was having sex inside a white SUV parked in the lot at about 10:10 a.m. Aug. 26.

30 A man was cited for loitering/prowling after an officer saw his vehicle backed up to a trash bin at the old American TV, 9191 S. 13th St., with six, five-foot industrial ceiling fans loaded into his truck at about 10 p.m. Aug. 26.

31 A man was arrested for disorderly conduct after he caused a disturbance and yelled profanities at an employee at the Oak Creek Public Library, 8620 W. Howell Ave., at about 3:20 p.m. Aug. 27. The suspect was allegedly looking through boxes that contained prizes for the summer reading program when confronted by the employee.

32 A man was arrested for disorderly conduct after he told an employee at Chase Bank, 7980 S. Howell Ave., that he was going to blow up the bank at about 9 a.m. Aug. 29. According to the employee, the man went through the drive-thru and attempted to cash a cashier's check made out to a business. When he was advised he could not because he didn't have a business account at the bank he threatened to blow up the bank.

33 Police responded to the 3900 block of East Fitzsimmons Road after a 911 caller reported at least three vehicles were parked near his residence and the occupants were outside, yelling at each other at about 9:25 p.m. Aug. 31. The responding officer found 15 people in the area, who stated they were just looking for ghosts. They were all told to leave and come back during daytime hours.

34 A woman was arrested for prostitution (escort license required) after an employee at the Value Inn, 9420 S. 20th St., at about 1:05 p.m. Sept. 1.

· Oak Creek police responded to two domestic violence calls and assisted the fire department with 16 rescue calls and two fire calls between Aug. 26 and Sept. 2.
