Oak Creek Police Report: June 10

June 10, 2014


1An unidentified man and woman shoplifted about five cases of disposable lighters, valued at $423, at Love's Travel Center, 9650 S. 20th St., at about 2:05 p.m. May 31. The incident was captured on video surveillance and police are investigating.

2A five-ton dump truck, valued at $25,000, was stolen from a lot in the 7100 block of South 27th Street at about 3 p.m. June 1. It was later discovered the truck was involved in a rollover crash on Interstate 43 and it was towed and impounded.

3A silver vehicle, valued at $11,000, was stolen from a driveway in the 500 block of East Conner Court early morning June 3.

4A woman was arrested for shoplifting after she went through a self-checkout lane at Woodman's, 8131 S. Howell Ave., and did not pay for $44 worth of groceries at about 12:35 p.m. June 3. She was also taken into custody for having a valid warrant for theft through the Greendale Police Department.

5Debit and credit cards were stolen from the center console of an unlocked truck in the 10600 block of South Austin Street between 6 p.m. May 31 and June 3. The cards were subsequently used to make $250 in fraudulent charges at various gas stations.

6A smartphone, valued at $800, was taken from a backpack at Oak Leaf Park, 401 W. Centennial Drive, at about 7 p.m. June 3.

7A digital media player, valued at $260, was stolen from a classroom at Oak Creek High School, 340 E. Puetz Road, between 11:45 a.m. and 12:05 p.m. June 4.

8A woman was arrested for shoplifting $105 worth of merchandise at Pick 'n Save, 2320 W. Ryan Road, at about 2:50 p.m. June 6.

9A dark green, 27-inch Univega men's bike, valued at $200, was stolen from an apartment complex in the 8500 block of South Chicago Road at about 11:30 a.m. June 7.

10An unidentified male stole a loaded Taurus 9mm pistol, valued at $800, and a smartphone, valued at $600, from an unlocked minivan at Red Roof Inn, 6360 S. 13th St., at about 8:15 a.m. June 8. The victim told police he parked in front of a motel room to pick up his family members, and when he came out he saw the suspect exiting his vehicle and carrying his handgun. The suspect, described as a 20- to 30-year-old, tall black male with a bald head and wearing a black shirt, was last seen running towards College Avenue.

11A 3-by-5-foot American flag was stolen from a flagpole in the 10500 block of South Rosemont Lane between 8 p.m. June 7 and 7 a.m. June 8. The flag is valued at $25.

12A female was arrested for shoplifting $54 worth of cosmetics at Pick 'n Save, 2320 W. Ryan Road, at about 2:20 pm. June 9.

13A resident in the 500 block of West Riverwood Drive reported an unidentified man paid for a video game system with $500 in counterfeit bills at about 10:25 p.m. June 9. The victim had listed the system for sale on Craigslist. The suspect, described as 5 feet 10 inches tall, black, in his mid-20s and weighing about 140 pounds, fled in a silver, four-door vehicle driven by another black male in his mid-20s.


14A male and a female were arrested for disorderly conduct after they had a physical altercation at a residence in the 2400 block of West Carroll Avenue at about 7:35 p.m. June 4. The two were cited due to past verbal warnings from police regarding swinging at each other and pulling hair.

15 A large fight broke out at Bootz Saloon and Grill, 8950 S. 27th St., at about 2:25 a.m. June 7. According to witnesses, a man used racial slurs towards another male, which led to a verbal altercation, and the involvement of another man. One man was hit in the head with a beer bottle, causing a large laceration. The front door sustained $500 worth of damage in th scuffle, and a male security guard also was struck in the back with a beer bottle. Both victims refused medical attention. Two suspects fled before police arrived. Police are reviewing video surveillance of the incident and the investigation is ongoing.

Drug possession

16A woman was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after police found three grams of THC and a pipe in her room at LaQuinta, 7141 S. 13th St., at about 8:20 p.m. June 5.

17An officer investigating an occupied vehicle in the lot at Oak Creek Plaza, 7800 S. Howell Ave., arrested a male for possession of cocaine after finding 3.5 grams of cocaine in his socks at about 1:15 a.m. June 7. He was also taken into custody for having a warrant for failure to support through the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department.

18A man was arrested for possession of marijuana after police found 3.5 grams of THC in his room at the Red Roof Inn, 6360 S. 13th St., at about 12:15 a.m. June 8.

Drunken driving

19A man was arrested for drunken driving after a motorist reported a dark-colored Silverado swerving, driving too fast and almost striking another vehicle while driving northbound on South Howell and West Drexel avenues at about 8:10 p.m. June 3. The driver, who failed field sobriety tests, admitted drinking "a couple" of beers prior to driving. His preliminary blood alcohol content was unavailable.

20A man was arrested for drunken driving (third offense) and operating after revocation and was cited for speeding and no insurance in the 300 block of West College Avenue at about 12:45 a.m. June 6. A breath test indicated a preliminary BAC of 0.10, and the suspect was transported to jail.

21A man was arrested for drunken driving (second offense) after he almost struck a vehicle while pulling out of Diane's Second Chance, and then started swerving and crossing the center line in the 7800 block of South Quincy Avenue at about 12:35 a.m. June 7. A breath test indicated a preliminary BAC of 0.17.

22A man was arrested for drunken driving after his drove his car off the roadway, causing it to rollover and come to rest in a ditch, in the 1300 block of West Puetz Road at about 2:35 a.m. June 8. A breath test indicated a preliminary BAC of 0.12.


23The windshield of a van was smashed at Newbury Place Apartments, 8385 S. Yorkshire Drive, between 9:30 and 10:40 p.m. June 3.


24An employee reported a female bank customer told her she was going to shoot her "like they do in the movies" after the customer was told to leave Tri City National Bank, 6400 S. 27th St., at about 3:30 p.m. June 5. The customer was asked to leave after she had difficulties with the ATM machine and began swearing loudly and refused to quiet down. The bank closed the customer's account and she was told not to return.

25A man spit on another motorist's vehicle during a road-rage incident on South Howell and West Drexel avenues at about 12:40 p.m. June 6.

26A caller reported baby ducks fell into a sewer in the 8100 block of South Howell Avenue, and it was causing traffic problems at about 7 p.m. June 6. The Oak Creek Fire Department responded, and all the baby ducks were returned safely to their mother duck.

· Oak Creek police responded to two domestic violence calls and assisted with 18 rescue calls and one fire call between June 3 and June 10.
