Police Report: Jan. 28

BURGLARY

1Police responded to the 7300 block of South Logan Avenue at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 20 after a person called 911 to report he was following a man who had just stolen a $75 bicycle out of a residential garage. While police were en route, the caller stated the man dropped the bicycle, got inside an older Chevy Suburban parked in a nearby driveway, and then stole the vehicle and headed east on Milwaukee. An officer caught up with the vehicle and pursued it until it was lost in the area of Rawson Avenue and Interstate-94. The bicycle was recovered and returned to its owner. The vehicle is valued at $3,000.

THEFT

2A television was stolen from a room at Red Roof Inn, 6360 S. 13th St., between 12:35 p.m. Jan. 17 and 2 p.m. Jan. 18. Police were following up with the last person who rented the room at the time of the report.

3Twenty Blu-ray movies, valued at $400, were stolen at Walgreens, 9449 S. Howell Ave., about 3:15 p.m. Jan. 17.

4Tools were stolen out of a locked work vehicle at Zenar Crane Corp., 7301 S. Sixth St., between 5 p.m. Jan. 17 and 8:30 a.m. Jan. 20. A window was broken to gain entry. Damage is estimated at $200.

5A woman stole six bottles of alcohol, valued at $183, at Pick 'n Save, 8770 S. Howell Ave., then fled in a silver minivan driven by another person, at 7:15 p.m. Jan. 18.

6Two backpacks containing school books and clothing, a GPS unit, four packs of cigarettes, a pair of prescription glasses and loose change were stolen out of a locked vehicle in the 8900 block of South Wood Creek Drive between 6:45 and 9:45 p.m. Jan. 19. Loss is estimated at $550. A window was broken to gain entry. Damage is estimated at $350.

7Two drills were stolen at Farm & Fleet, 501 W. Rawson Ave., about 10:30 a.m. Jan. 20.

8A resident reported at 5:10 p.m. Jan. 21 that her diamond anniversary ring, valued at $1,600, had been stolen out of a box inside her dresser at Meadowmere Mitchell Manor, 701 E. Puetz Road, between July of 2013 and Jan. 20.

9Two 12-inch audio speakers and an audio amplifier, a $310 value, were stolen out of a locked vehicle at La Quinta, 7141 S. 13th St., between 6 p.m. Jan. 21 and 5:30 a.m. Jan. 22. A window was broken to gain entry. Damage is estimated at $150.

10An air compressor and tool set were stolen at Farm & Fleet, 501 W. Rawson Ave., about 8:10 p.m. Jan. 21. The suspect, described as a 6-foot-tall, 200-pound white man in his mid-20s to mid-30s with blonde or brown hair and a mustache, fled in a brown-colored Toyota that was waiting for him outside the exit doors. Police confirmed that the plates on the vehicle had been stolen from West Allis earlier in the day.

11A woman stole $120 from the front desk cash drawer at Red Roof Inn, 6360 S. 13th St., while the clerk was in a back room about 3:50 a.m. Jan. 22. Police viewed video surveillance footage and saw a white woman in her 20s wearing a tan jacket and tan Ugg boots come into the lobby and take money from the drawer. When police determined what room she was staying in that evening, they contacted the man who rented the room. He told police he didn't know the woman's name because she was a prostitute he picked up on Greenfield Avenue.

12A man was arrested for shoplifting a package of Prilosec at Pick 'n Save, 2320 W. Ryan Road, at 10:05 a.m. Jan. 22. He said he was unemployed and had a bad case of heartburn.

13A man was arrested for shoplifting after he was seen stuffing two ratchets, a $35 value, down his shirt by security employees at Menards, 6800 S. 27th St., at 2:05 p.m. Jan. 22.

14A bag containing hand tools, a $600 value, was stolen from a locked truck at La Quinta, 7141 S. 13th St., between 3 and 7 a.m. Jan. 23. A window was broken to gain entry. Damage is estimated at $200. Windows on two other trucks in the lot also were smashed out, but nothing was reported missing from either vehicle. Both trucks sustained about $200 in damage.

15An Apple iPhone 4, valued at $400, was stolen out of an unlocked vehicle in the parking lot at Pick 'n Save, 8770 S. Howell Ave., about 8:25 p.m. Jan. 23.

16A catalytic converter was stolen off a 2011 Ford work truck at Unlimited, 7277 S. 10th St., between 3 p.m. Jan. 24 and 10 a.m. Jan. 27. Damage is estimated at $800.

17A woman was arrested for shoplifting at Woodman's, 8131 S. Howell Ave., at 7 p.m. Jan. 24 for taking a total of $44 during incidents on Jan. 16, 18 and 22. The suspect used the self-checkout lanes during each incident.

18A man was arrested for shoplifting after he stole a $500 welder at Menards, 6800 S. 27th St., about 2:30 p.m. Jan. 25, and then attempted to return it for cash at the Menards store in West Allis about 4 p.m. Jan. 25.

19A man was arrested for shoplifting after employees found him passed out behind a pallet near the dairy cooler at Pick 'n Save, 2320 W. Ryan Road, with a half-empty bottle of stolen vodka in his possession at 2:25 p.m. Jan. 27. The man had apparently been in the store all day, stole the vodka and drank it. Police also found hair spray in his possession, which he may have huffed. He was taken to Wheaton Franciscan Hospital for treatment and evaluation. He also was cited for trespassing because he had previously been told never to enter a Pick 'n Save store again.

ASSAULT

· An Oak Creek resident was arrested for second-degree sexual assault of a child after his wife reported at 12:05 a.m. Jan. 23 that she had just learned her husband has been sexually abusing their mentally disabled daughter for 18 years.

DRUG POSSESSION

20A male was cited for possession of marijuana after police found a pill bottle containing eight marijuana roaches and one joint on the floor of his vehicle in the 6500 block of South Pennsylvania Avenue at 5:10 a.m. Jan. 20.

21A boy was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, Schedule II narcotics (oxycodone and OxyContin), Alprazolam and tobacco products in the 9400 block of South Northbrook Boulevard about 6:40 p.m. Jan. 22.

22A male was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after police found two grams of THC along with two pipes and other paraphernalia at a home in the 1000 block of East Melody Drive at 8:45 p.m. Jan. 25. Police responded to the home after a friend of the suspect was taken to Children's Hospital for evaluation and treatment after he admitted smoking and eating marijuana with peanut butter crackers at the suspect's home earlier that evening.

DRUNKEN DRIVING

23A man was arrested for drunken driving in the 1900 block of West Ryan Road at 2:35 a.m. Jan. 18. In addition, the man and a male passenger were cited for having open intoxicants in a vehicle after police found a half-empty bottle of Fireball Cinnamon whiskey, and two almost-empty, opened bottles of Pineapple Whipped vodka and Peach Smirnoff in the rear hatch of the vehicle. The driver's blood-alcohol content was 0.15.

24A man was arrested for drunken driving in the 10600 block of South Chicago Road about 3:15 a.m. Jan. 18. He admitted drinking beer at a friend's birthday party, and said he was driving an intoxicated friend home. His BAC was 0.10.

25A woman was arrested for drunken driving and failure to keep a vehicle under control after she drove her car into a ditch in the 600 block of West Puetz Road, and then got out of her car with two other passengers and started walking away from the scene of the accident at 2:25 a.m. Jan. 25. Her BAC was 0.15.

26A man was arrested for drunken driving after his vehicle spun out and went into a snow bank in the 10500 block of South Howell Avenue at 3:50 a.m. Jan. 27. His BAC was 0.11.

27A man was arrested for drunken driving in the 100 block of East Drexel Avenue at 2:05 a.m. Jan. 28. His BAC was 0.19.

ACCIDENTS

28One person was taken to Wheaton Franciscan Hospital for treatment of neck and back pain after a car and truck collided in the 8100 block of South Howell Avenue at 12:25 p.m. Jan. 27. One of the drivers, who was exiting a parking lot when the collision occurred, was cited for failure to yield the right of way.

OTHER

29A person was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia after police found a needle with heroin residue, a spoon with burn marks and three corner-cut bags with heroin residue inside a vehicle parked in a handicapped parking space without a permit at Target, 8989 S. Howell Ave., about 1 p.m. Jan. 17.

30A man was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia in the 1000 block of West Violet Drive at 9:10 p.m. Jan. 19. A needle and four spoons were found in his possession.

31A man was found dead in the bathroom at Pilot Travel Center, 2031 W. Ryan Road, about 5:30 p.m. Jan. 21. The medical examiner said the man likely had been deceased for eight to 10 hours. The man's vehicle was found in the north lot, and it appeared that he was living out of his vehicle.

32A male was arrested for disorderly conduct after he kicked in the front door and broke several items inside a home in the 1100 block of East Connie Lane about 1:45 p.m. Jan. 22.

33A man was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia after police found a syringe and saline solution in his pants pocket and a candle holder used to heat heroin in the passenger-side door of his vehicle at Drexel and Howell avenues at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 22. He also was taken into custody on a Department of Corrections warrant for a probation violation.

34Police responded to the Red Roof Inn, 6360 S. 13th St., at 8:50 p.m. Jan. 22 after an anonymous caller reported a female was screaming in the vending area for about 40 minutes. An officer made contact with the woman, who stated that she was having an argument over her cellphone and came to the vending area because she didn't want to disturb other guests in the hotel. She was warned about loud and unnecessary noise.

35A man was arrested for disorderly conduct after he yelled profanities at a woman and then got out of his vehicle and kicked her car in the parking lot at Menards, 6800 S. 27th St., about 4:45 p.m. Jan. 25. He was upset with the woman because she struck his car window with her hand when he drove too close to her car in the parking lot.

36Officers responding to a 911 caller who reported a physical fight between multiple males and females in the parking lot at La Quinta, 7141 S. 13th St., arrested at least five people for multiple crimes, including disorderly conduct, obstructing an officer and underage drinking about 2 a.m. Jan. 26. One of the people involved told police she had rented several rooms for a birthday party, but some "gang bangers" arrived and began causing trouble. One male was arrested for theft after he tried to steal a television from one of the rooms, and another male was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia. One male was taken to St. Luke's Hospital for treatment of facial lacerations.

· Oak Creek police responded to two domestic violence calls and assisted with 25 rescue calls and five fire calls between Jan. 17 and Jan. 28.
