Tick-, mosquitoborne diseases topic of free family seminar
Oak Creek - The Oak Creek Health Department is sponsoring a seminar on keeping your family safe from tick- and mosquito-borne diseases from 6:30 to 8 p.m. May 3 at the Salvation Army, 8853 S. Howell Ave.

Church to host annual rummage, bake sale
Hales Corners - Whitnall Park Lutheran Church, 5847 Lilac Lane, will hold its 18th annual rummage and bake sale from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 4 and 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 5.

Authors to discuss state's 'remarkable' homes
Franklin - Authors Louis Wasserman and M. Caren Connelly will talk about their book, "Wisconsin's Own: Twenty Remarkable Homes," at the Franklin Public Library, 9151 W. Loomis Road, at 6:30 p.m. May 7.
The book is a study and history of 20 architecturally significant houses in Wisconsin.
The program will feature photos and architectural sketches of these homes, which include such well-known houses as Ten Chimneys in Genesee Depot, Wingspread in Racine and the Pabst Mansion in Milwaukee, as well as many less-familiar residences.
Last year, the book won an Outstanding Achievement award from the Wisconsin Library Association. Wasserman and Connelly operate Milwaukee-area architectural firm Louis Wasserman and Associates.
The free program is open to the public.

Boerner to hold National Public Gardens Day event
Hales Corners - Boerner Botanical Gardens, 9400 Boerner Drive, will celebrate National Public Gardens Day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 11.
National Public Gardens Day promotes and increases awareness of botanical gardens, zoos, historic gardens and any of America's public gardens. Members of gardening organizations will be in attendance. The horticultural staff will offer garden tours at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.

Packers hold youth football camp in Franklin in June
Franklin - Former Green Bay Packers John Anderson, Johnnie Gray, Dexter McNab, Bryce Paup, Paul Rudzinski and Bill Schroeder will provide support at a youth football camp for children 6 to 14 at the Milwaukee County Sports Complex, 6000 W. Ryan Road, Franklin.
The camp provides noncontact instruction, teaching children how to run, throw, coach and compete the Packers way.
