Katie Kastenson and Christopher Schmidt of Madison were wed Aug. 14, 2010, in the Fragrance Garden in Boerner Botanical Gardens, Hales Corners.
Parents of the bride are Daryl and Wanda Kastenson of Oak Creek, Debra Martin of Thiensville, and Terrence Schmidt of Mequon.
The Rev. Donald O'Kray officiated the 5:30 p.m. ceremony, which was followed by a reception in the gardens.
The bride wore a beaded strapless trumpet gown with a sweetheart neckline. She carried red, pink and orange roses, zinnias and celosia.
Maid of honor was Heather Kastenson of Oak Creek, sister of the bride.
Bridesmaids were Melissa Millard of Madison, Erika Lubbert of Oak Creek and Emily Flasch of Campbellsport.
Best man was Tyler Schmidt of Thiensville, brother of the groom.
Groomsmen were Sean Witzling of Madison, Brian Moeller of Madison and Chris Lee of Grafton.
Flower girl was Willow Lee of Grafton, goddaughter of the groom, and ring bearer was Trenton Flasch of Campbellsport, cousin of the groom.
The bride earned her bachelor's degree in gender and women's studies in May 2010 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She remains a student, working on her master's degree in education through Cardinal Stritch University.
The groom earned his bachelor's degree in political science and legal studies in May 2009 from UW-Madison. He also remains a student, pursuing his law degree at the UW-Madison Law School.
The two met the day Katie moved into the UW dorms as a freshman and Chris (a Badger Buddy) came into her room to see if she needed any help. They were engaged at sunset in August 2008 at Monona Terrace.
The couple planned a one-week honeymoon to Walt Disney World.
