Welcome to Bookmark, the online version of the Oak Creek Public Library???s newsletter. The library, established in 1972, is dedicated to helping people of all ages and from all walks of life get the information they need to lead better lives. We provide members of the community with informational, educational and recreational materials and services of various types.
The Oak Creek Public Library will be closed in observance of Labor Day: Sunday, September 5 and Monday, September 6. The library will reopen Tuesday, September 7 at 10:00 a.m.

The Oak Creek Public Library sends a big Thank You to Kwik Trip for its generous donation of $500!
The new Kwik Trip at 9535 South 13th Street opened for business August 12 and officially celebrated its Grand Opening August 20. Ross Talis, the city librarian, accepted a check for $500 on behalf of the library at the ribbon cutting ceremony Friday.

The Friends of the Oak Creek Public Library thank all the patrons who donated items for their annual book sale and everyone who purchased items August 3. Thanks to all of you the sale was a huge success!

Mark your calendar! The Friends of the Oak Creek Public LIbrary's annual book sale will be held in the library's meeting room Tuesday, August 5 from 5 to 8 p.m. Look what 25 cents will buy-- Books, CDs, Videos, DVDs for children, teens and adults. There's something for everybody.

Join us Tuesday, July 20 for an hour of fun and music at 1:30 p.m. This program is for school age kids Grades 1 thru 6. No registration required. Come early--space is limited.

Pick up an entry form at the library. Anyone going into the the 9th grade can join, and of course, adults of all ages are welcome! Just read three books or listen to three audio books (or a combination of both) between June 7 and August 2. Your first entry earns you a coupon for a free mini sub at Cousins and a coupon to purchase any item from the Friends' Book Nook for only $1.00.
Each entry form turned in also gets you into the drawing on August 4 for fabulous prizes! Enter as often as you like. The more you read, the more chances to win!

The Friends of the Oak Creek Public Library are seeking donations for their annual book sale. We will accept adult and children's materials: hard and soft cover books, paperbacks, CDs, DVDs, video cassettes and audio cassettes. We will be collecting items now through July 31st.
Please mark all materials "Friends Book Sale" and drop off at the library.

Sign up for the Oak Creek Public Library's Summer Story Time for children ages 3 to 5 begins Wednesday, June 2 at 10:00 a.m. Registration must be in-person. Class size is limited to 25 children. Oak Creek residents are given priority. Story Time sessions begin Wednesday, June 16 and run through July 21. Choose from one of three sessions: 10:30 - 11:15; 1:30 - 2:15; and 6:00 - 6:45. Register early--this popular program fills up fast!

The American Rose Society presents All About Roses at the Oak Creek Public Library Monday, May 3 at 6:30 p.m. and Tuesday, May 4 at 1:30 p.m. Two expert rosarians, Betty Gurschke and Marlin Johannes, offer something for everyone in their 45-minute program followed by a question & answer session. Whether you're just beginning or are an experienced grower, you won't want to miss this informative program. There will be a drawing for cut roses, too! The Friends of the Oak Creek Public Library's annual meeting is Thursday, April 29 at 4:30 PM in the library's meeting room. The group is looking for new friends to help them in their fund raising efforts for the library. You won't want to miss this very important meeting. Mark your calendar for April 29 and become a 'Friend' of the library. If you can't attend the meeting, stop by the library and fill out an application to become a member of this very worthwhile group.

Attention parents and caregivers: The Oak Creek Public Library's In-Person Registration for our Spring Toddler Time begins Wednesday, March 10 at 10:00 a.m. Toddlers ages 18 to 35 months are eligible for this free program. The Oak Creek Public Library is running a Large Print Book sale. Selections run from romance to westerns with everything in between, and, best of all books are only fifty cents each. You won't want to miss this once-a-year large print book sale.
